Too Late Now

I am a Procrastinator.

I am not ashamed of it and actually it is not necessarily something I want to change. I do my best work when it is crunch time. Test tomorrow-- study late the night before. Paper due on Wednesday--fire up the computer on Tuesday night. Talk on Sunday--hunker down after putting the kids to bed Saturday night.
Why do I do this? Because I know I can and it works for me.
Well, it HAS worked for me but I have found the exception....running a half marathon. The couple of weeks before you are supposed to taper, lessen the time and distance you are running. (So the "real" runners tell me.) That goes against everything I believe in. The closer the deadline, the more time is required, usually because I have failed to prepare before.
So here it is Thursday, two days before the race, and I am feeling very unprepared. What do I do about it? Nothing! Just sit here and think that I really should have prepared more. Too late now. School of hard knocks might be painful about mile 10.
If you see me on the side of road, sports bra clad, with my 6 pack hanging out, as my bronzed skin glistens in the morning sun, just know that I should have logged a few more miles.

TRI as I may

First Tri of the season. Perfect weather, new recruits, and a personal best. I can't think of a better way to start off the summer, now if only it would quit snowing.

Look at that hot new recruit. His first race and he beat me by 50 sec. He said that maybe next time he will actually train.
What a nice way to start off our anniversary weekend. Nothing says love like neon spandex.
Shout out to team Emerald ward.

Handprints

Sometimes I might upset you
Just because I am small
By leaving fingerprints of mine
On a table, chair, or wall.
And I'll be big one day
When all my tiny fingerprints
Have long been cleaned away
So keep these prints of my two hands
To help you recall
Just how big my fingers were
That time when I was small.

Pink paint covered face as proof that he was the artist.

Happy Mother's Day.

Tidbits

Just a few tidbits that made me happy lately...

A dozen blue Krispy Kreme donuts delivered to us for autism awareness day. Nothing better than a warm melt-in-your-mouth donut. Nothing except, the friend who was thinking of you and wanted to let you know. Feels good to be remembered.

Watching Charlie take down a good portion of aforementioned donuts.

Sleeping in while Mark got both kids ready, made Jackson's lunch, made breakfast, and emptied the dish washer. Love that man.

Filling my car with flowers even though it is 35 degrees with snow flurries.

Watched as a wife greeted her husband with a full, two arms around the neck, embrace in the foyer of the hospital. No wussy side arm, pat pat, and then look to see who is around. The world needs more of them.

Just some tidbits.

Discovered

Last night Jackson's preschool had a little program. I was sceptical, to say the least, at Jackson's willingness to participate and came in with low expectations. Well, he proved me wrong. He started out a little shy, worked up some confidence, and by the end was scanning the audience for agents and scouts. The cutest part was that HE was his biggest fan. He could not have been more proud of himself. At the end he jumped off the stage and said, "Good job Jackson." His mom was pretty proud of him too.
It is amazing that only six months ago he was barely talking and now he may be Broadway bound.
