Easy as ABC

So I am not a fan of the blagging (blog bragging) but I looked it up and you are entitled to a variance if your child was diagnosed with autism within the last year. (See paragraph 8) Anyway, with this new found knowledge I decided to take advantage of it and give Jackson some blog time. In last month he has a new found interest in letters, numbers, and colors. He knows all of his ABC's in order, their sounds, their sign and can identify all the letters by sight, his colors, and numbers 1-10. He isn't talking much yet but he knows and uses over 200 signs so at least the communcation is there. He can also play Wii sports by himself. He chooses his Mii and can navigate and play the various sports without any help. Wow. Genius right? Well, before you get Harvard admissions on the horn to give your glowing recommendation for his immediate acceptance let me elaborate. Despite his acceleration is these areas the poor kid can't seem to pin down where his nose is and has zero concept of emotions, his and others.
Not complaining just wish I could get in that little brain of his and see what he is thinking. He is such a character and seems to be making progress. Mark and I went to a seminar yesterday on a therapy that promotes therapeutic play with your child to encourage communication and socialization. Who would have thought I would need training on how to play with my child? Apparently I'm not the playa I thought I was.

Point is, I love this boy and wouldn't change a thing.

Just a great Mom! If anyone can play good with their kids, it would be you! You are so fun! Tell Mark hi for me too!

Wow he does know a lot of things that any two year old would be challenged to learn! They are such cute boys! by the way, I think that everyone is entitled to a little "blagging" once in a while.

blagging. i like that. did you make that up? just say yes. i might use that one sometime. sounds like jackson is ahead of the curve... i honestly don't think i learned the sounds of the alphabet til the day i hit kindergarten. so kudos to YOU. is it me, or do kids learn things earlier these days? you guys should see if he likes guitar hero someday. you could have a little shredder on your hands if he's video-gamingly inclined. that picture is so cute. handsome fellas you have there.

Wow, you have a smarty pants on your hands. It sounds like he is advanced for his age. By the way, I think knowing where your nose is located is overrated.

You know what, you ARE a great mom. Don't downplay that! ;) I heard about that seminar on the news, it really sounded like a lot of good information, and a lot of fun. The progress that one lady has had with her son (on KSL) was amazing. I'm so glad that there are people out there thinking outside the box on Autism. Love it!

Oh, and BRAG all you want on your boys, and YOUR accomplishments. It is your blog girl!

I actually think that is amazing! Wish I could teach my 5 year old the alphabet. Love and miss you guys!

Brag all you want my friend. Sounds like a smarty pants with those letters, sounds, and 200 signs? Nice. As for the conference? Sounds fabulous.

The picture is darling. They are too cute.

You're doing a wonderful job, and blogs ARE for bragging about our families. Good for both of you on the accomplishments-it must have taken a great deal of work and patients from you too. And having weathered 3 two year olds, I can soundly say that NO 2 year old has much emotional awareness (3 year olds are only slightly better).

Wow that is a great that he knows all of those things. Joseph doesn't even know his alphabet yet. What a great picture of Charlie and Jackson! Both cute as can be! Squeeze them for me!
