Well, if you are like me these presumptuous assertions went out the window on about day 2 of parenting. It boils down to survival, both for you and your children. Avoid major injuries--to your children and others. Try not to break things. Get some sleep whenever you can and the rest....come what may.
What caused this ranting you may ask. Well, I was struck with a poor parenting/white trash moment as we were finishing some Christmas shopping this weekend. Case in point....

Yes, that is an entire bag of Funyons that my child is eating as we perused to aisles. Not only did I let him polish off the bag but we has specifically stopped at the local Maverick on the way to the store with these delicacies in mind. Ya, pretty white trash but worth the public ridicule and a blissfully uneventful day of shopping. I am officially the mother I NEVER was going to be. I have learned that choosing your battles is way more important than public appearances, right moms?
PS Only two more days!
PPS mmmmmmm Funyons.

I never ever wouldn't do that!

I was never going to be the mom that dropped her kids off at school looking like she just woke up. Well, sorry Alec. That's a daily occurence!! I totally brush my hair!- and I stay in the car if I'm still in pajamas... Oh well! I can't wait for these two days! So exciting! Glad it's you, not me... Love Ya!
Oh Amy! I can just imagine you 9 months pregnant in the store w/ your little guy all crusty from Funyons....isn't it great though? I always carry suckers in my purse for the girls so I can get some shopping done. They last a long time, but they get so sticky and stick to me and their hair gets stuck in their mouth, and then WE look like the crusty family. I can't wait to hear that little baby Drake has arrived!!! Can I come and photograph the birth? Ummmm....I'm totally joking.
Ah yes, the best parents are those without kids. Don't worry you are a fantastic mother and your twenty-one year old self would be proud. By the way, a bag of junk food in the store is mild. I don't want to admit what we have done in public. I have a story that would just kill you, but it's too long for a comment.
Two days, yahoo! I can't wait to meet this little guy. Good luck.
I was totally that same way! I was NEVER going to let my kids have binkis, I was never going to let them go out in jammies, so on and so on. Well anyway, I get what you are saying, it is all about survival for sure!! Good luck in 2 days!!
PS Were the funyons for breakfast? If so, then i've been there too! If not, not a big deal at all!!
Oh amy been there not with funyons but plenty of other stuff. I think your little boy looks like your little brother. So cute. good luck in two days. Merry christmas.
I could not agree more. Why make these public apprences that are false in every way shape and form. The "real" mom's know that it's a show, because no one really has that much control over thier child!!
